Auction of Promises

A date for your pre-Christmas entertainment!

We’re running an Auction of Promises on November 15th in the Village Hall and … drum roll please … there are more than 40 fantastic lots in the auction.

If you have never come across an Auction of Promises before, it’s a fun local auction where you can bid on experiences and unique items which have all been donated by generous villagers and local businesses. As a taster, you might come away with a pair of budgie smugglers - now framed but worn by Bath Rugby star, Alfie Barbeary! If that’s not quite your thing, there are holidays, lifts to the airport, a day’s sailing and beauty treatments up for grabs.

The catalogue will be available from mid-October and thanks to kind sponsorship from Fine & Country Estate Agents, each house in Priston will receive a printed copy. A digital version will also be available. If you can’t make the live auction, but would still like to take part, it will be possible to make sealed bids in advance, again from mid-October until 12 noon on Friday 14th November. Details on how to do this to follow.

Why are we holding an Auction of Promises?

Priston Parish Church has been in the heart of the village for over 800 years and whether you attend regular services or want to find a place of calm in today’s busy world, the church is available to all of us, every day of the week. Naturally, this ancient building needs to be kept in good repair which, not surprisingly, costs money. So the Fundraising Committee has put together the 2025 Auction of Promises to help raise some of the income needed for the upkeep of the church. with our resident auctioneer, Tim Thacker, at the helm, the evening is set to be lots of fun, with an opportunity to bag some fantastic auction prizes along the way!
