The design for the memorial bench was approved at the Parish Council meeting on 9 February 2004. The bench is about 18" wide and is out of a piece of seasoned oak set around the tree on the village green. The seat stands on four galvanised steel legs, and has no back or arms. Brass plates have been set in the grooves dividing the four quarters of the seat, engraved with inscriptions in memory of Jim and Charlie. A ceremony was held on Sunday 2 May 2004 to mark the installation of the seat and to remember Jim and Charlie. |
